On Meet the Writers this week, Georgina Godwin sits down with one of Latin America’s literary heroes: Roberto Ampuero is probably Chile’s greatest living author. As well as being the creator of the famous fictional detective Cayetano Brulé, Ampuero has served as the Chilean minister of culture and the country’s ambassador to Mexico. He talks about his writing, government work and life in Cuba and East Germany at the height of the cold war.
