In a remote region of Australia’s outback that has been hit by a “one-in-100-years flood”, hundreds of people have been cut off by the deluge, airlifted to safety by military helicopters. Authorities say that some evacuation centres are struggling to cope with the number of displaced people, as the floods have wrecked highways and bridges.
