With words such as ‘selfie’, ‘frenemy’ and ‘chillax’ now permissible to win you a game of Scrabble it is clear that the rules of language, and board games, keep moving. But Monocle’s Megan Billings isn’t playing along.
This week Merriam-Webster added 5,000 new words to the dictionary for Scrabble players. Perhaps it was time for an update – the last time the board game saw a revision to its entries was around 10 years ago.
