Darumas

Long believed to assure happiness, prosperity and ward off misfortune, Daruma dolls are an age-old Japanese artefact that we’ve carefully updated in three Monocle-minded forms. These papier-mâché pals trace their lineage to the Daruma temple in the city of Takasaki, north of Tokyo, where they were first manufactured in the 1800s. Believers colour in the doll’s left eye to request something, then the right eye when the prayer is fulfilled. Best wishes for the new year from Monochan, Shibachan and Porkychan.
