About the role

-Alongside magazines, radio shows and books, Monocle creates punchy and engaging daily newsletters that are sent directly to the inboxes of our global subscribers.

-The newsletter editor is responsible for managing and editing the selection of daily stories included in our weekday editions, as well as our more travel-, fashion- and hospitality-focused weekend versions. This involves researching, commissioning, writing and editing the top stories of the day.

-You will work in close collaboration with our editorial, photography and digital-content teams.

-The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for current affairs and the ability to write and edit concise content across a range of subjects, and deliver to tight deadlines.

About the role

The US editor is a senior role within our editorial team and is the key anchor within the region. The editor will be a confident voice on the US, with the breadth of skills and expertise to cover politics, entrepreneurship, design and architecture in a way that connects with our global audience.

-The role is dynamic and will see you sourcing stories, reporting, writing and editing content for Monocle magazine, Monocle Radio, our email newsletters and our website – and be involved in Monocle events in the US. You will also commission stories from our network of correspondents.

-This is a job for someone who is a skilled writer and broadcaster and who can also represent Monocle as brand ambassador. While based in the US, it is essential that you are closely connected with our teams in London and around the world.

-The role will require you to be on the road and we’re open to applicants from any of our key cities, including Washington, New York and Los Angeles.

A newly created role for an experienced sub editor to join Monocle’s Tokyo bureau.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and autonomous sub editor to work at our Tokyo office. This is a key position working closely with the sub editing team in London to support the production of content across all of our platforms, including our magazine, website, radio, digital newsletters, books, commercial and marketing.

The role will primarily be focused on Monocle’s soon-to-be-launched, new-look website, working closely with editors and writers, the picture team and the digital department to ensure that website content is accurate and engaging, and entices our readers to visit monocle.com everyday.

The sub editor (Asia) will also be responsible for offering support with subbing layouts for the magazine, descriptions for programmes on Monocle Radio and daily email newsletters, as well as contributing to our fact-checking process.

We are looking for someone who:

-Has one to three years’ experience in a digital subbing role for a national newspaper or magazine.

-Is comfortable using a content management system and has a working knowledge of InDesign.

-Has a methodical and organised approach and can work quickly and accurately when faced with multiple deadlines.

-Can write snappy headlines and engaging standfirsts.

-Has supreme confidence in their grammar, spelling and fact-checking.

-Can pick up house style and tone quickly.

-Can communicate effectively and confidently with section editors, writers and other production departments, verbally and via email.

The global news editor is a newly created and pivotal position for Monocle as we innovate our digital offering. We have ambitious audience growth plans and are at an exciting point in the journey. We’re looking for a Digital editor with proven success in leading complex digital evolution.

The role will be heavily involved in the delivery phase of the digital project, working cross-functionally, building internal capability and utilising external expertise where needed.

Once live, the role will continue to own the success and evolution of .com and the app as lead editor.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

-Experience in the ownership and successful delivery of complex digital projects

-Contribute to strategic planning to ensure long-term, sustainable and ambitious growth across all products

-Skilled stakeholder engagement, storytelling, influencing and developing capability at all levels of the organisation

-Comprehensive understanding of websites and applications, alongside outstanding journalistic credentials
