editorial vacancies

Monocle is seeking a sharp and self-motivated fashion reporter to join our team. You’ll cover the industry across the magazine and daily newsletters, as well as delivering polished copy, managing deadlines, editing and commissioning supplements.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable interviewing the head of a global watch brand or the creative director of a top fashion house, not to mention scouting new yarns from textile start-ups to up-and-coming ateliers. Commercial nous is a must: the role will involve travelling to represent Monocle at key industry events and trade shows.

An interest in radio and relevant experience of broadcast journalism would be an advantage, as would languages, particularly French, German or Italian.

Monocle is expanding its team and wants someone who can wrangle big interviews, has great contacts in the industry and a worldview that is not bound to London opinions, plus a nose for the luxury industry. This hands-on job will include plenty of assignments and travel.

You should have three years’ relevant experience, ideally at a national newspaper, trade title or magazine. The position could sit in London or be an at-large role in Paris or Milan.

To apply for this position, please send a CV and covering letter to Monocle’s managing editor Tom Reynolds.

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated associate editor to join our London team and take on a key role in editing and commissioning the Business pages in the magazine, plus related coverage.

The ideal candidate will be as comfortable talking to top CEOs as to young entrepreneurs, and be able to report stories that are also about cities on the rise and businesses built to last. The role also involves commissioning supplements, contributing to our daily email newsletter and conducting interviews for our radio show The Entrepreneurs on Monocle 24. An interest in radio and relevant experience would be an advantage, as would languages, particularly French, German or Italian.

Monocle is expanding its team of reporters and wants someone who can wrangle big interviews and help to nudge good copy towards excellence, as well as having great contacts and a worldview that is not bound to London opinions and politics or just the world of technology start-ups. This hands-on role will include plenty of assignments and travel.

You should have five years’ relevant experience, most likely at a national newspaper or magazine.

To apply for this position, please send a CV and covering letter to Monocle’s managing editor Tom Reynolds.

Monocle is seeking a foreign affairs editor to be based in our London HQ. The editor looks after the commissioning and writing of the Affairs pages in the regular editions of Monocle, as well as in special editions such as The Forecast. In addition, they write for the daily email bulletin, The Monocle Minute, and contribute ideas for Monocle 24 Radio (and hopefully become a commentator on our news shows). The editor works closely with the bureaux and our extensive correspondent network, helping us to grow our reach every year. We are seeking an editor with a proven track record who understands the ambitions of Monocle and can land key interviews and deliver sharp, nuanced reporting. A minimum of five years experience in news and features is essential.

While the job is based in London, our readership is equally strong from Asia to the Americas, and we need someone who can move the news agenda beyond the usual Anglosphere narratives. Additional languages are beneficial but it is essential that you are a great writer in English. This is a role that involves travel and hours that may vary with projects. It is also a chance to join a dynamic, successful company.

Please send your CV to managing editor Thomas Reynolds at tr@monocle.com. Please also include a covering letter explaining why you are suitable for this role.
