Monocle is looking for an experienced and talented digital designer to work on-site at our London headquarters in Marylebone. This is a key position in the busy UK offices of a leading media brand and magazine that tells fresh stories from around the world in print, audio and online, as well as through our daily newsletters. We are recognised for our incisive coverage of current affairs, business, culture, design and more. The right candidate should have an appreciation of these and the brand.
About you
• At least three years’ experience in a similar role in digital, product or UI/UX design.
• A portfolio that highlights your experience in B2C digital-product offerings and a user-centred approach to problem solving.
• Strong skills in typography, iconography, composition, colour, composition and layout, and a keen eye for mobile-first/responsive web and newsletter design.
• Proficiency in using Sketch/Figma, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
• Additional skills in After Effects, Keynote, Google Analytics, Hotjar, Excel, HTML and CSS.
• You believe in putting customers at the heart of your work and have excellent attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and team skills, empathy, willingness to work in interdisciplinary teams and an intrinsic motivation to deliver the highest-quality work.
• An ability to explain your thoughts on usability, engagement and business/user needs.
Responsibilities
• Lead design in the digital team to deliver inspiring, high-impact work that is driven by the needs of the business while keeping the customer in mind.
• Own delivery of features from concept to design and developer hand-off.
• Collaborate with developers to understand technical constraints and support them to ensure that final products match their design vision.
• Work closely with product owners to shape and deliver features.
• Communicate the underlying principles and rationale of designs, constructing compelling narratives that sell ideas to stakeholders and team members.
• Conceptualise experiences and realise them in detailed UIs with consideration of brand requirements.
• Iteratively design, test and refine concepts to help achieve product-market fit.
• Evolve the company’s design system in alignment with brand principles.
