Monocle is seeking a merchandising manager to join our growing retail team. The role is suited to an innovative professional with strong attention to detail, a passion for analysis and working with others to problem solve. You should take a genuine interest in how businesses should attune and optimise their offering to win consumers’ hearts and minds. This is a maternity cover role based at our London HQ in Marylebone.

Monocle is a global affairs and lifestyle magazine, 24-hour radio station, website, retailer and media brand, produced by Winkreative Ltd. Monocle’s retail division employs an international team across shops in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Toronto, Merano, Zürich and London, as well as online & regular global pop-up shops. Our selection is focused on a curated range of brand collaborations and products from Japan, the US and Europe, including many limited-edition items. Monocle is currently expanding its own-label ranges while also solidifying long-standing partnerships. Our retail team makes products in close collaboration with our editorial content to bring these selections to life – both online and in our shops.

Key responsibilities:
– Responsible for demand planning reporting, monitoring sales and stock performance to identify opportunities and drive the business forward. Provide data-driven insights and conduct deep dives where needed to better understand shopping behaviours and trends.
– Manage monthly store & temporary shop transfers to ensure that all stores promptly receive newness, and stores are replenished with bestsellers.
– Conduct regular analysis to support product developer buying and ad-hoc sales, pricing and stock analysis, as requested by Head of Retail and COO.
– Oversee the ecommerce platform - ensuring the shop is maintained and merchandised to a high standard. Assist with product uploads, reporting and organising appropriate stock transfers.
– Support on continuous improvement of inventory management and sales systems.

Key skills & requirements
– Minimum 2-3 years proven experience in merchandising or a similar role
– Minimum 2 years hands-on experience of an e-Commerce platform
– Excellent ability to analyse data and propose commercial actions
– Strong communication skills
– Resourceful and able to problem solve
– Excel skills - including consolidation of multiple sources
– Knowledgeable of stock inventory management & sales systems.
– Specific experience with CRM tool - Klaviyo, ecommerce platforms - ShopifyWooCommerce, sales systems - Revel and other Inventory management systems a plus

Monocle is seeking a part-time sales associate for The Monocle Shop in the heart of London’s Marylebone. The shop stocks a mix of exclusive Monocle collaborations with our favourite brands and craftsmen around the world, and a selection of independent magazines.

Successful candidates will have a keen interest in world affairs, business and design, and act as an ambassador for our brand. You will need to have experience of premium retail sales and a passion for delivering excellent service, and must be available to work on weekends and bank holidays.
