Monocle is seeking a part-time sales associate for The Monocle Shop in the heart of London’s Marylebone. The shop stocks a mix of exclusive Monocle collaborations with our favourite brands and craftsmen around the world, and a selection of independent magazines.

Successful candidates will have a keen interest in world affairs, business and design, and act as an ambassador for our brand. You will need to have experience of premium retail sales and a passion for delivering excellent service, and must be available to work on weekends and bank holidays.

We are looking for a part-time (40%) sales associates to work in our four-month (02.12.2024 - 31.03.25) pop-up shop at Hotel Steffani in St. Moritz.

Monocle is a leading global media brand. We have busy shops and cafés in London, Toronto, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Zürich and Merano, as well as an online shop. The Monocle Shop stocks a mix of exclusive Monocle magazines and books, collaborations and a collection of products from our favourite companies and craftspeople around the world.

The successful candidates will have a keen interest in world affairs, business and design, have a passion for printed matter and will be ambassadors for our brand.

Our ideal candidate is someone who can operate efficiently and productively in a lively retail and hospitality environment, with a work ethic and passion that reflects brand values and high standards. The pop up shop will also serve take away coffees and therefore the candidate will get trained as a barista. Living in the Engadine region is key for the job.

A keen eye for detail, a creative mindset and a passion for delivering excellent service, as well as the flexibility to work weekends, are also essential traits. Proficiency in oral and written German or English is essential and knowledge of an additional language would be an advantage.

About the role:

The Monocle Shop offers a unique selection of products, ranging from ready-to-wear clothing to luggage and homeware. The products are well made, have great design and strong provenance.

The retail project coordinator will work closely with the head of product development to coordinate the curation and development of a unique product selection brought to market in collaboration with a wide range of brand partners.

With 1-2 years’ experience in retail buying or retail management, you have a strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, knowledge of Microsoft programs and the Google Suite, and excellent English. the successful candidate will demonstrate:

-Ownership of complex projects – from initiating first contact with new brands to coordinating the development of products with long-term Monocle partners

-Curiosity and proactiveness to stay up to date on trends, consistently suggest ideas to refresh Monocle’s product range and drive new developments

-Excellent communication skills to manage product developments with partner brands and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of goods in-store and online

-Strong organisational skills to manage product-development timelines and keep internal tools up to date

-Strong analytical skills to evaluate product performance, control costs and assist strategic buying process
