Great escape
On Portugal’s unspoiled Alentejo coast, JNcQUOI Comporta blends design, nature and lifestyle into a singular destination. From beach club to boutique residences, it’s a soulful, slow-living retreat rooted in local beauty and a refined, lasting sense of place.

JNcQUOI and Comporta: The perfect match
In today’s fluid cultural landscape, discerning travellers expect more from their precious leisure time. Traditional hotels, clubs, and boutiques no longer satisfy the desire for enriching, unexpected experiences that surprise and delight. The French call it “je ne sais quoi” – that elusive quality we recognise but can’t define.
While many aspire to capture this spirit, JNcQUOI has succeeded in making it tangible. This Portuguese luxury brand creates immersive lifestyle hubs that combine high fashion, authentic gastronomy and vibrant hospitality into a singular experience, reflecting the shared passions of CEO and founder Miguel Guedes de Sousa and his wife, Paula Amorim, who also chairs the Amorim Luxury Group.

When JNcQUOI debuted in Lisbon in 2017, it did more than open its doors – it established a new standard of lifestyle hub. JNcQUOI Avenida seamlessly unites a restaurant, deli bar and fashion boutique with the thrill of knowing an unexpected encounter or unforgettable flavour is only moments away.
Building on that magnetic energy, the brand ventured to Comporta, a tranquil village on Portugal’s Atlantic coast. JNcQUOI Comporta brings the brand’s refined yet relaxed sensibility to a destination long favoured by in-the-know travellers seeking privacy, authenticity and elegance. “The Alentejo coast is one of Europe’s last great escapes,” says Guedes de Sousa. “It’s remote yet accessible, simple yet refined – and a perfect match for the JNcQUOI ethos.”
Here, JNcQUOI’s properties form an ecosystem, echoing the harmony of the surrounding dunes, pine forests and ocean. JNcQUOI Beach Club and JNcQUOI Deli Comporta anchor this vision today, with an ambitious new residential and hospitality project on the horizon for 2028. “More than a seasonal destination, we are building a lasting way of life in Comporta,” says Guedes de Sousa. “A curated community with a true soul, rooted in a strong sense of place.”
That soul comes vividly to life at JNcQUOI Deli Comporta in Carvalhal. Belgian designer Jean-Philippe Demeyer, a Comporta resident, has created a whimsical reimagining of an Alentejo tavern that bursts with personality: striped cushions, hand-painted ceramics and tiled floors that channel the region’s spirit. At nearby Praia do Pego, JNcQUOI Beach Club also reflects its setting. Vincent van Duysen’s design draws on the hues and textures of the surrounding dunes – sand, driftwood, stone – to craft interiors that offer the perfect setting for a sundowner, enjoyed barefoot in true Comporta style.

JNcQUOI Club Comporta: Where architecture meets nature
Framed by untamed beauty, Comporta leaves a lasting impression – it is that rare place that leaves you longing to return. On completion in 2028, JNcQUOI Club Comporta will become the crown jewel of this coveted destination – a coastal sanctuary of refined coastal living with a members’ club, boutique hotel and a collection of luxury residences.
Miguel Guedes de Sousa and Paula Amorim view JNcQUOI Club Comporta as a legacy project, built to last for future generations to enjoy. As such, they are keen to take their time to do this right and preserve the purity of the surroundings. “The project is just 700m from the dunes within a protected nature reserve,” says Guedes de Sousa. “It’s a rare and fragile landscape, and we felt a responsibility to treat it with care and respect.”

JNcQUOI Club Comporta is being designed by Vincent van Duysen as a single entity. Stripped-back living spaces, al fresco pool areas and floor-to-ceiling windows create no delineation between indoors and out. Natural materials, like sand-blasted cement, hardwood, terracotta and native cork, anchor the structures in their environment, adding visual continuity and tactile warmth.
The Belgian architect is a long-term Comporta resident with a profound understanding of the village’s character, which has proved vital for maintaining a sense of privacy and community on a project of this scale. Spanning 164 hectares and featuring 1km of private beachfront, JNcQUOI Club Comporta will offer 64 private residences, 94 guest pavilions and 34 luxury hotel rooms. “When I think of Comporta, I see a refuge from where I can abstract myself from the world,” says Van Duysen. “It’s a place to embrace nature and slowness, to meet and gather with those closer to us.”

Despite its tranquil setting, JNcQUOI Club Comporta ensures that sophistication is always close at hand. Electric vehicles link residents and guests to the Clubhouse, with its three signature restaurants, a bar and a fashion boutique. Sustainability isn’t a gesture – it’s embedded into every layer of the project.
Ultimately, JNcQUOI Club Comporta is the realisation of an audacious vision. By fusing the best of both worlds – luxury and simplicity, couture and cuisine, beach and forest, care and carefree – it offers a unique destination, alive with potential and in tune with its surroundings. “The land always leads, and we follow,” says Guedes de Sousa. “This is how we create a world of JNcQUOI in one place.”
