Abrahamic Family House
Find faith in the power of architecture.
Good things come in threes – and that is certainly true at the Abrahamic Family House. This interfaith complex brings together the houses of worship of three major religions: a mosque, a church and a synagogue. Each is identical in scale and with enough room for more than 200 worshippers; only the façade pattern and orientation vary according to faith. This fundamental equality was an intentional choice by architect Sir David Adjaye. “I wanted to create a site that dissolves the notion of hierarchical difference, to represent universality and totality,” he says.

Although open seven days a week, the Abrahamic Family House truly comes alive towards the weekend as Muslims gather for Friday’s Jumu’ah prayer, Jews arrive for Shabbat and Christians attend Sunday mass.
