The boutique offering from the Magic Travels group has only 10 deluxe ensuite tents, providing an intimate, off-grid retreat powered entirely by solar energy. “This is a unique experience,” says general manager Alain Kharrat. “We searched for months to find these particular high dunes and we have ensured that everything that we do will not damage the natural environment.” That extends to each lodge being supported by a metal structure without concrete foundations. After a cinematic jeep ride through the dunes from the main road to the camp, you are greeted with Arabic coffee before choosing from a selection of curated experiences including sunrise balloon rides, sandboarding, camel treks and chef-designed dinners under the stars. Evenings often end around the firepit and under the moon that gave the lodge its Arabic name.
