Oxford button-down shirt

Designed to be worn season after season, this striped cotton Oxford shirt is Monocle’s take on a classic Ivy League style. Made in Portugal, it has a relaxed silhouette and has smart details such as an embroidered Monocle logo, a button-down collar and a pen pocket.

Oxford popover shirt

A versatile addition to any modern wardrobe, this popover strikes the perfect balance between the casual comfort of a polo and the refined look of a dress shirt. Tailored from the same fabric as Monocle’s Oxford button-down, it features a sleek collar and distinctive mother-of pearl buttons. Look for Monocle’s label embroidered on the side-slit gusset.

Cold weather jacket

Designed in Copenhagen by menswear label Works and Days, this jacket is based on an archive military liner and modernised for contemporary use. But what makes this jacket extra special is its custom fabric choice, exclusive to Monocle. Working with our design team, Works and Days selected the navy colour for this collaboration, along with the contrast moleskin collar and premier Italian wool for the lining. This item is made in a family-run factory outside Vilnius from Japanese recycled polyester taffeta.

Large Belém beach mat – olive

Taking its name from Lisbon’s Belém lighthouse, this pure cotton beach towel by Torres Novas features an absorbent terry material on one side and a soft fouta fabric on the other. Made in northern Portugal, this beach accessory features a bespoke co-branded label and comes in two colours developed exclusively for Monocle.

Kiosk T-shirt – tan

This heavyweight, organic cotton T-shirt was developed exclusively for Monocle by Lisbon-founded fashion brand Isto. Featuring an illustration of Lisbon’s traditional kiosks by Isto’s founder, each piece is made in Portugal at a family-run factory. Available in white or tan.

Candle One: Hinoki

The inspiration for our candle, made by Comme des Garçons in France, comes from a perfectly still, slightly chilly spring morning spent soaking in an indoor – or outdoor – tub in Kyoto. It is reminiscent of the moss and trees outside and the sharp notes of the boxy hinoki tub.

Drehgriffel pen

An ideal companion to your notebook, this ballpoint pen, from a design dating back to the 1920s, will keep you writing crisp. The pen works using a spring-loaded turning mechanism and its ink is refillable. It comes in colours that match our notebooks and is a design object to behold, with a geometric hexagonal barrel and a pleasing weightiness that lends to its retro quality.

Leather Christmas ornaments

Brighten up your Christmas tree with these three leather Christmas ornaments from Bangkok-based accessories brand Archives Design. Embossed with gold foil (“Time for a party”; “Starry silent night”; “Tis the season”), they are made by hand from full-grain cowhide and tanned via a natural, plant-derived process. Designed by Cameroon-born artist Maxime Mballa-Tagny and inspired by Jean Cocteau’s illustrations and West African Akan goldweights.

Scent Three: Sugi

Sugi – also known as Japanese cedar – is popular as an ornamental plant in Japan and has a delicate, clean and energising fragrance. After our collaborations with Comme des Garçons on Hinoki and Laurel we returned to them for this third scent. Developed in Paris by Antoine Maisondieu it comes in a Monocle-designed bottle and box. It is a refreshing scent that’s light but sophisticated, beginning with top notes of Mediterranean cypress and pepper from Madagascar, followed by iris from Florence and cedar from Virginia, and finished with pine and Haitian vetiver.

Produced for Monocle by Comme des Garçons’ perfumer, Antoine Maisondieu, the inspiration for Hinoki comes from a perfectly still, slightly chilly spring morning spent soaking in an indoor/outdoor tub at the Tawaraya in Kyoto. It pulls together our memory of the mosses and trees outdoors and the sharp notes of the boxy hinoki tub.
