The inspiration for our candle, made by Comme des Garçons in France, comes from a perfectly still, slightly chilly spring morning spent soaking in an indoor – or outdoor – tub in Kyoto. It is reminiscent of the moss and trees outside and the sharp notes of the boxy hinoki tub.

A collaboration between Monocle and Beams Plus, this pure worsted-wool bucket hat is hand sewn in Aioi City. Available only in a limited run of 50.
Taking inspiration from the cool cuts and colours of the US postwar fashion boom, Japanese brand Beams Plus has been stocking wardrobes with menswear classics since 1999. Offering essentials from outerwear to tops and shirts, each piece is designed and made in Japan, adding a distinctive flair to the brand’s retro looks.
