Swim shorts

Whether you’re hitting the pool or the beach, Monocle’s swim shorts are designed to kickstart your summer. Made in Portugal, these shorts blend fun with practicality. A secure zipped pocket can be found at the back, while mesh lining and an elasticated waistband provide a snug fit. A braided navy drawcord, threaded with pops of Monocle’s signature yellow, and a sleek side-seam label complete the look.

Leather luggage tag

Available in chocolate or cognac brown, this elegant tag from London-based luggage specialists Carl Friedrik is made in Portugal from Italian Vachetta leather that is vegetable-tanned with organic tannins from tree bark, leaves and roots in Tuscany. A removable address label is revealed on the underside of the tag and understated branding allows the buttery-smooth texture of the leather to stand out. Featuring a co-branded Monocle and Carl Friedrik label. 

Based just off London’s Piccadilly Circus, Carl Friedrik is a specialist label when it comes to high-quality leather goods and travel accessories. Founded in 2012 by Swedish brothers, Niklas and Mattis Oppermann, the brand is known for its minimalist designs and premium leather, such as Italian Vachetta for its briefcases, wallets and backpacks.

Belgian linen towel

Linen manufacturer Libeco is a fifth-generation family business with more than 160 years of expertise. Weaving exclusively in Belgium, Libeco continues to operate out of the Meulebeke-based mill that the company built during the Industrial Revolution when Libeco first rose to prominence exporting sought-after Flemish flax across the world. This large, striped linen towel can double up as a beach blanket or a useful throw for your holiday terrace. Made from European flax, the fabric is inspected yard by yard during the manufacturing process and finished by hand.

Featuring inside looks at some of the agency’s boldest and biggest projects, as well as considered opinions on place, travel, culture and commerce, Knowing Wink is home to ideas, perspectives and works that have taken on a life of their own.

Flight bag jumbo

This jumbo version of our flight bag is inspired by retro airline carry-ons that were an essential for any regular flyer in the 1960s and 1970s. Made in collaboration with Japanese label Beams Plus, it is sewn by hand in Tokyo’s Adachi ward and made from Japanese nylon, with PVC coating for extra water resistance. It also features a double-layered front pocket exclusive to Monocle customers, which perfectly fits one of our magazines.

Flight bag private

Inspired by retro airline bags of the 1960s and 1970s, and made in collaboration with Beams Plus, this flight essential is sewn by hand in Tokyo’s Adachi ward. Made from Japanese nylon, with PVC coating for extra water resistance, it features a double-layered front pocket exclusive to Monocle customers.

All-season work trousers

Part of our continental collection, these Portuguese-made cotton-twill trousers are exclusive to Monocle. Featuring two fatigue-pant patch pockets, as well as one welt pocket on the back, the semi-elasticated waistband is paired with a drawcord for easy adjustment. Finished with corozo buttons.

Scent Five: Syros

Our fifth fragrance collaboration with Comme des Garçons Parfums has landed: Scent Five: Syros. Inspired by the sun-scorched hills and herbaceous air of the eastern Med, it’s a crisp summer escape in a bottle – think wild thyme, rosemary, turmeric and golden immortelle, grounded in vetiver and patchouli. Crafted in Paris by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu, designed by Monocle’s in-house team and housed in a clean glass bottle with a bold blue box that nods to Cycladic minimalism.

Museum side table

This Museum sidetable was designed by the Stockholm-based TAF Studio for Sweden’s Nationalmuseum as part of its reopening in 2018. Put into production by String Furniture, this height-adjustable tabletop is made of fine textured and coated aluminium and steel. Available in olive exclusively for Monocle.

Sweden-based String Furniture is known for its elegant practicality. Fielding designs such as the String bookshelf, created by Kajsa and Nisse Strinning in 1949, the brand has long had Monocle’s seal of approval – String Furniture pieces appear in our London café and shop.
