Konfekt – Summer 2026
Our summer issue is packed full of roadtrips, holiday style and inspiring beach reads for a sun-soaked season. We sail around the Finnish archipelago with a designer and play tennis on the French Riviera. There’s a chance to meet a new order of creatives redefining Malta’s design and hospitality scene, and dip in the country’s azure Mediterranean waters. Pull up a chair in the dappled shade for a long, absorbing roundtable on the allure and power of island life, which takes place next to an 18th-century windmill in Hydra, Greece. The issue is a celebration of the freedom and beachy escapism found in high summer. We’ll introduce you to the Sicilian family business pioneering chic minimalist garments and drop in to Madrid’s most elegant multibrand shop for a lesson on hot-weather dressing. Our travel special will take you to inimitable homes on the Aeolian archipelago and to a glorious garden in the Balearics. Plus: dreamy recipes in a Mallorcan garden and Konfekt’s signature cocktails for summer entertaining.
Museum side table
This Museum sidetable was designed by the Stockholm-based TAF Studio for Sweden’s Nationalmuseum as part of its reopening in 2018. Put into production by String Furniture, this height-adjustable tabletop is made of fine textured and coated aluminium and steel. Available in olive exclusively for Monocle.
Sweden-based String Furniture is known for its elegant practicality. Fielding designs such as the String bookshelf, created by Kajsa and Nisse Strinning in 1949, the brand has long had Monocle’s seal of approval – String Furniture pieces appear in our London café and shop.
The Monocle Book of Designers on Sofas
Monocle meets 50 celebrated designers from across the globe who get cosy on their couches (with their pets, partners and children) and tell us about their sofa choices – why they designed it, why they chose it, how they use it. They reveal fresh insights into their work, their lives, their passions and their style. Original photographic portraits and in-depth interviews transport us into the homes of some of our favourite creatives. We also take you on a fascinating journey that starts at an English country house in 1675 to find out about the 350-year history of the sofa. And we have compiled an illustrated guide to 100 of the most iconic examples, representing the best from 125 years of settee design. Take a seat and join the conversation.
Tyrolean leather shoes
Handmade in Tokyo’s Asakusa district, these shoes from Japanese brand Tep_P offer a laid-back answer to the loafer. Working closely with Tep_P’s artisans, Monocle made a number of exclusive alterations, including the use of a rich chestnut colour for this suede option. The shoes also feature a lightweight Vibram sole and no extra interior linings for a more natural feel.
Operating out of a small workshop in Tokyo’s Asakusa district, Tep_P was founded by shoe designer Teppei Yoshimi to offer more relaxed footwear to step out in. Drawing on his experience as CEO of shoe brand Rendo, Yoshimi keeps things comfortable but sharp for the discerning customer.
Thailand: The Monocle Handbook
The sixth installment in Monocle’s Handbook series takes you across Thailand’s stunning scenery. From mountainous Chiang Rai all the way down to tropical Phuket, we head to wellness retreats, restaurants serving fresh takes on traditional dishes, national parks, temples and envelope-pushing culture hubs to show you why this sunny nation remains the stuff of holiday dreams. Plus, if you’re interested in a permanent relocation there, we spotlight the neighbourhoods and islands where you can make a home and profile the architects and designers to commission for the job. So pack your bags and experience this special corner of Southeast Asia afresh.
Travel trousers
Monocle’s travel trousers are made from premium worsted wool sourced from centuries-old Italian mill Vitale Barberis Canonico. A semi-elasticated waistband accommodates those on the move, while two pleat and welt back pockets add a touch of sophistication to these versatile navy trousers. Pair them with our matching Teba jacket. Both pieces are thermo regulating and anti-crease making them perfect companions for the road.
Cotton twill cap
Top off your look with this versatile hat. Made in California from 100 per cent twill, this signature Monocle cap has been launched in a new colourway. Featuring embroidered Monocle branding on the front and a tonal logo on the rear, it’s the perfect companion for everything from walking through cities to playing a round of golf.
