One of Austrian painter Gustav Klimt’s last works, ‘Portrait of Fraulein Lieser’, was rediscovered in Vienna after almost a century. Klimt was one of the founders of the Vienna secessionist movement, a local variant of art nouveau. Francesca Gavin, artistic director of Vienna Contemporary and editor in chief of ‘Epoch Review’, tells us more about the work and its auction.
