Chapter 1

Georgia’s controversial ‘foreign agents’ law passes

Cover art for The Globalist

Georgia’s Foreign Agents Bill was passed yesterday despite huge protests in Tbilisi. Police used teargas on crowds and there was even violence in the chamber. Demonstrators, who have dubbed the bill ‘Russia’s Law’, are concerned that it will hinder the country’s efforts to be accepted into the EU. The bloc has warned that the law is incompatible with European values.
