Hasami X monocle

In an age of outsourcing and cost-cutting, craft still reigns in Japan’s artisan towns. Among them is Hasami on the southern island of Kyushu. At the local ceramics manufacturer, which has taken the name of the town, the workers pride themselves on being expert shapers, moulders, glazers and sticklers for detail – a trait that gives Hasami’s porcelain products an even, enviable finish.
