Description
Monocle’s April issue, on newsstands now, is a big issue for us. We've shifted production from the UK to Germany so as well as a glossier paper stock, you’ll also notice some design tweaks and plenty of eye-catching stories. For example, with Taiwan’s 2020 election on the horizon, we’ve sat down with its unflappable president, Tsai Ing-wen; we’ve also headed to Brazil to find out how the country is tackling violence under Jair Bolsonaro’s far-right reign.
There’s our retail survey too, which looks at movers and shakers on the high street – as well as in airports and tucked-away shopping neighbourhoods – and reflects on London’s shopping crisis. Our Spring Manifesto, meanwhile, is a digest of style news and opinion, plus the looks to keep an eye out for this season.
We’ve also got big interviews aplenty, including leading fashion designers Jonathan Anderson (creative director of Loewe) and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (Benetton’s new design chief), as well as Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, who reflects on his eight-year tenure and the city’s urbanism infrastructure.
