Handmade in Tokyo’s Asakusa district, these shoes from Japanese brand Tep_P offer a laid-back answer to the loafer. Working closely with Tep_P’s artisans, Monocle made a number of exclusive alterations, including the use of leather for the black pair and a soft beige colour for the suede option. The shoes also feature a lightweight Vibram sole and no extra interior linings for a more natural feel.
Operating out of a small workshop in Tokyo’s Asakusa district, Tep_P was founded by shoe designer Teppei Yoshimi to offer more relaxed footwear to step out in. Drawing on his experience as CEO of shoe brand Rendo, Yoshimi keeps things comfortable but sharp for the discerning customer.
