Retail
Voo Store, Kreuzberg
Located far from the main fashion boulevards on Oranienstrasse, this concept shop has been a Berlin tastemaker since 2010. Customers can find items by local brands alongside major houses such as Prada and Maison Margiela. The small café’s courtyard seating is the ideal spot for stylish people-watching.

Andreas Murkudis, Tiergarten
Located in Tagesspiegel’s old printworks on Potsdamer Strasse, this two-decade-old emporium is, to this day, Berlin’s best luxury retailer. Murkudis personally chooses the womenswear, menswear, jewellery, fragrance and furniture selections on the shop floor, and his exhibitions and events always draw a good crowd.
Manufactum, Schöneberg
This German retailer has a simple concept: to offer the best-made version of everything. The focus is on kitchen gear – this is where to find a Milantoast sandwich press or a Peugeot pepper mill – but the selection also includes Swiss fountain pens and German-made clothing.

MDC Next Door, Prenzlauer Berg
This colourful cabinet of curiosities in the Kollwitzviertel is filled with perfumes, cosmetics, scented candles, incense, jewellery and ceramics. It is also the exclusive Berlin stockist of several artisan manufacturers. Stop by after a beauty treatment next door and pick up some souvenirs that are sure to be appreciated back home.
The Square, Mitte
This retailer on Gendarmenmarkt features a cheerful selection of Jil Sander, Courrèges and The Row, as well as ceramics by David Chipperfield and Kirsten Landwehr. The curation is a welcome antidote to Berlin’s dominant industrial aesthetic. “We wanted an oasis where people have an alternative to all the grey,” says co-founder Emmanuel de Bayser.

Erich Hamann, Wilmersdorf
This chocolatier is a trek from the city centre but its fully preserved 1920s shop interior makes the trip worth it. The house speciality is the dark, low-sugar bittere Schokolade: get it coated on candied ginger or in the shape of mocha beans.
Brandenburgische Strasse 17, 10707
A Kind of Guise, Mitte
This Munich-based label offers stylish clothing, knitwear, bags and shoes made in Germany. Fabrics are sourced from Japan and Western Europe. “The design aesthetic is timeless,” says creative director Yasar Ceviker. The Mitte flagship stocks the brand’s men’s and women’s lines.

RSVP Papier, Mitte
Stationer RSVP on Mulackstrasse stocks everything from Italian leather-bound notebooks to Kaweco and Caran d’Ache pens, along with greeting cards from Berlin’s Martin Z Schröder. You’ll also find the finest selection of wrapping paper and ribbons.

Bless Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg
You must be buzzed in to enter this shoppable art space located in an Altbau walk-up. There are printed blankets, furry hammocks, Siamese-twin dresses and much more, all dreamed up by Ines Kaag and Desiree Heiss with a team in Berlin.

Breathe Fresh, Mitte
For more than two decades this speciality perfume shop has supplied Berliners with niche fragrances that passers-by won’t recognise. Founder and connoisseur Sebastian Schmidt is often there to help shoppers navigate the notes of a Naomi Goodsir or a Paratus cologne.
