Hotels

Three places that offer sleep steeped in history.

Rosewood Vienna, Innere Stadt
Just a few steps from the lively atmosphere around St Stephen’s Cathedral, Rosewood Vienna is unexpectedly tranquil. Spread across four interconnected historic buildings, it is well-furnished and adorned with contemporary artworks. On the top floor, the Neue Hoheit Brasserie serves Austrian fare, seafood and top-tier cocktails.

Grand Ferdinand, Innere Stadt
The first thing to greet you at the stately Grand Ferdinand hotel on Vienna’s Ringstrasse, one of the world’s most beautiful boulevards, is a vast crystal chandelier from J&L Lobmeyr. Beneath it, the ground-floor Meissl & Schadn restaurant serves some of the city’s finest schnitzel. The rooms are spacious and the bright sixth-floor terrace is a delight for a leisurely breakfast or a dip.

Magdas Hotel Vienna City, Landstrasse
When the first Magdas hotel opened by Vienna’s Prater park in 2015, it was an instant success. It championed staff from refugee backgrounds, while its tasteful design featured upcycled furniture. This second incarnation on Ungarngasse – once a priests’ dormitory – follows the same ethos.
