Footnote
A 2007 study led by Manuel J Castillo Garzón at the University of Granada tested the suitability of beer as a rehydrating drink after sport. The research involved asking subjects to do 60 minutes of exercise on two occasions, the first time drinking only water, the second combining 600ml of beer with water. Results showed that both methods are equally effective for recovery.
