In the month of October, Konfekt spreads its wings from Samos to Seoul, the heart of London to the quaint picturesque town of Rye, to ponder everything from the power of solo hiking to how to spot the perfect kimchi and what it really means to dress for the job. Plus, why taking up a needle and thread is back in vogue and a new immersive experience at London’s Cosmic House.

A collaboration between Charles and Maggie Jencks and the architect Terry Farrell, London’s Cosmic House is the UK’s first Grade I-listed post-modern house. This October, a new site-specific sound installation, ‘How to Pass Through a Door’ by the Jencks Foundation’s first artist-in-residence Marysia Lewandowska was inaugurated. It pays homage to Maggie Keswick Jencks and her contribution to The Cosmic House. Konfekt’s editor Sophie Grove went along to find out more.

As a potential long, cold winter approaches, there’s nothing more satisfying than opening your cupboard to a sea of delicious preserves and pickles. One pickle that has a history of over 300 years is Korean staple food Kimchi. Chef Kimmy from London-based Kimchi & Radish joins Sophie Grove in the studio for a little bit of taste testing and a history lesson.
