This episode is a burst of unbridled beauty to nudge us out of the winter torpor and into the spring light of March. We’ll reflect on the balance of graft and inspiration as we head to the Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Dance Reflections’ festival, discover Lebanese embroidery with the duo behind Bokja and explore the world of tarot as we embark on a journey with the cards through time.

This time of year is ripe for cultural nourishment, and one event that should be on everyone’s diary is the ‘Dance Reflections’ festival by French jewellery powerhouse Van Cleef & Arpels. Taking place across four key venues in London – the Royal Ballet & Opera, the Tate Modern, the Southbank Centre and Sadler’s Wells – the event highlights the brand’s legacy of dance and commitment to the choreographic arts. We caught up with Serge Laurent, Van Cleef & Arpels’ director of dance and culture programmes.

Most of us have encountered a deck of tarot cards at one time or another. But where did these mysterious images and symbols come from and what resonance do they hold today? ‘Tarot: Origins and Afterlives’ is the first international exhibition to be held at London’s Warburg Institute and takes visitors on a journey with the cards through time, space and memory.

We’re in London’s Notting Hill to pay a visit to the duo behind Bokja and the Beirut design collective’s pop-up space. Founded by friends Huda Baroudi and Maria Hibri in 2000, the design studio is best known for its exuberant upholstery, patchwork artistry and commitment to craft traditions that span cultures and generations.
