Colombian film director Ciro Guerra is best known for his 2015 film ‘Embrace of the Serpent’, which earned him an Oscar nomination. He returns this year with ‘Birds of Passage’ – a collaboration with producer Christina Gallego – which combines documentary-style film-making with drama to tell the story of Colombia’s marijuana trade over the latter half of the 20th century.
