This all-in-one shop, showroom and workshop is the flagship for lifestyle-and-apparel brand Graye. It is run by husband-and-wife team Calvin Sim and Qian Qian Xie, who put modern twists on traditional Asian silhouettes, such as the bestselling cotton kimono jacket. Browse off-the-rack pieces, request alterations or customise looks.

Mud Rock Ceramics, Tiong Bahru
The duo behind Mud Rock Ceramics, Ng Seok Har and Michelle Lim, has crafted wares and trinkets for diplomats and royalty, including Queen Elizabeth II. The handmade vases, crockery and colourful decorative tiles make for charming, artisanal gifts.
Dylan & Son, Chinatown
Travellers with a few days to spare should make a beeline for menswear maker Dylan & Son, which offers fully bespoke tailoring. Owner Dylan Chong relies on his perfectionist three-person team, each of whom specialises in creating a specific garment type: trousers, shirts or jackets.
Sifr Aromatics, Kampong Glam
Third-generation scent specialist Johari Kazura runs Sifr Aromatics, an independent perfumery that distils the best of Eastern and Western traditions by blending ingredients such as oud and sandalwood into light formulas. Kazura is always present and ready to sift through your favourite olfactory memories and preferences to craft a special fragrance.

Supermama, Bukit Merah
Surround yourself with stylish gifts and homewares at this independent design shop. Perennial favourites include patterned plates, illustrated botanical-themed prints and objets d’art from homegrown creatives such as Hans Tan. Supermama also runs outposts in the Asian Civilisations Museum and Peranakan Museum.
Book Bar, Tanjong Pagar
One of the newer additions to Singapore’s roster of independent bookshops, Book Bar stocks fiction and non-fiction, with an emphasis on Singaporean writers and topics. Grab a coffee at the counter and settle down with a read.
Fin Crafted Goods, Bishan
The art of mending takes centre stage at this studio-shop. Using quality offcut Japanese fabrics, co-founders Fahmy Ishak and Erliana Kamiti have been repairing and reimagining second-hand garments for more than a decade. They have also produced a selection of handmade, one-of-a-kind lifestyle goods, stitching with traditional boro and sashiko techniques.
In Good Company, Orchard
This independent label has men’s and women’s capsule collections, as well as accessories. Notable items include its tile-patterned piqué cotton top, jewellery by Days of Ever and Studio Karyn Lim’s stainless-steel bags.

O+ Eyewear, Buona Vista
After manufacturing glasses for luxury European labels, the family-owned business turned its attention to designing its own timeless and well-made frames. At the flagship shop, you can design your perfect pair from scratch, down to the tiniest detail, including the eyeglass rivets.
Tanchen Studio, Newton
Design shop Tanchen Studio offers a fresh take on weaving with its intricate yet functional products, such as wine bottle carriers and foldable stools. The interiors, complete with hand-crocheted wall sconces, vintage furniture and bamboo racks, reflect co-founders Sanchia Tan and Amber Chen’s sharp taste.
