Sweden,
Stockholm

Introduction

As the biggest city in Scandinavia, Stockholm is the scene for many major fairs and conferences. In last year's quality of life survey, the city made it to number 10, and with good reason. Add proximity to nature and a bustling city centre to the presence of stylish Swedes and you have a very pleasant environment for both business and leisure.

Essentials

  1. Pack warm clothes regardless of the season: Swedish summers are lovely but treacherous.
  2. If you are travelling in summer, also bring an eye mask for the light nights.
  3. Knowing a few Swedish words will make a good impression. Hello is 'hej'; goodbye 'hejdå'.
  4. That said, most Stockholmers are very international so English will work fine.
  5. Swedes are also quite informal but they're still Scandinavian, so a firm handshake is the best way to greet somebody.
