Visual art may be all about expression but at Art Basel’s bustling Hong Kong event it was the visitors’ attire that was doing the talking. Attendees turned out in an array of army khaki, denim jackets and plaid shirts emblazoned with slogans and statements. The messages on show were mixed. Some were cheeky, some were impossibly twee and others were simply difficult to interpret – not that different, in fact, from some of the art hanging on the walls.
