Hotels

The city is home to some of the world’s best hotels. We like these.
best hotels in tokyo

The Okura Tokyo, Toranomon
Relaunched in 2019, The Okura Tokyo builds on the legacy of its iconic predecessor, which first opened its doors in 1962. This 508-room luxury hotel encompasses new and heritage elements, including a meticulous recreation of the original hotel’s famous lobby. The establishment’s history also lives on in its assured service – many of the old staff remain, jackets and bow ties in place.

K5, Nihonbashi Kabutocho
Once destined for demolition, the Dai-Ichi Bank building is now home to K5, a 20-room hotel complete with a café, a restaurant, a library bar and a basement beer bar. The guest rooms are large by Tokyo standards, while the interiors embrace patina and craftsmanship, making for a comfortable stay.

The Palace Hotel, Marunouchi
This Tokyo landmark next to the grounds of the Imperial Palace has been welcoming guests since 1961 (it was rebuilt in 2012). Contemporary Japanese interiors and myriad artworks grace its 284 rooms, restaurants and bars, and there’s an outdoor terrace area overlooking the palace moat. Don’t miss the Royal Bar, where martinis and a good steak sandwich await.
