Editor – Monocle Books

Monocle is looking for a dynamic editor – with a proven, extensive and relevant track record – to work across all the book titles we are publishing in conjunction with Gestalten. Since our partnership began with the German publisher in 2013 we have produced three large-format books (The Monocle Guide to Better Living, The Monocle Guide to Good Business and The Monocle Guide to Cosy Homes) and will put out nine hardback travel guides in 2015. We also have a very full calendar of titles for 2016.

We need an editor who is ridiculously organised, passionate about accuracy and can bring the Monocle brand to life on page with wit and flair. You will need to be able to roll your sleeves up as well as developing a small yet growing team that is dedicated to our books business. You will work closely with Monocle's editor and will benefit from a sound commercial sense and a belief in the power of paper.

It's a job that will be fast-paced, as well as sometimes demanding irregular hours and travel. If you would like to shape this part of the business, send your cover letter and CV today to Tom Reynolds at tr@monocle.com.

Monocle, the rapidly growing premium media group, is on the hunt for a sharp, detail-oriented and personable Retail & Hospitality Manager that understands the value of delivering exceptional customer experience across the brand and can develop further our F&B and retail division.

With existing branches of The Monocle Café in Tokyo and London and The Monocle Shop in London, New York, Hong Kong, Toronto, Tokyo and Singapore, we have ambitious plans for the year ahead: expanding both our retail and café operations.

  • A high level of creativity and enthusiasm with expansive ideas for developing and scaling our retail business.
  • A passionate appreciation of customer service and the culinary arts.
  • Extreme attention to detail, ability to “see all” and engender this quality in others.

The Retail & Hospitality Manager will manage the hospitality and retail operations and development team in London, a team of shop managers internationally and Monocle's customer service function.

To apply, please send a CV and covering letter explaining why you are suited to the role and what you can bring to Monocle.
