EXHIBITION: SYDNEY
Everyday Worries and Scenarios - Marise Maas
The latest exhibition from Dutch-born Australian-based artist Marise Maas explores the anxieties of modern living. In a series called “Everyday Worries and Scenarios”, Maas focuses on the banal events of everyday life that we often overlook – what she calls the “small stuff”. Maas tells the stories beneath the surface of day-to-day events in her personal life through the use of strong lines, a predominance of white and a bold-coloured palette.
MiCK, 44 Gurner Street, Paddington. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00–18.00; Sunday, 13.00–17.00. Until 27 October.

For her contribution to art, Merz won the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award at this year's Venice Biennale.
11 Eptachalkou Street. Open Tuesday to Friday, 10.30–18.30; Saturday 12.00–16.00. Until 14 November.

EXHIBITION: LONDON
Sam Irons at Tim Sheward Projects
Julien Dobbs-Higginson curates a selection of UK-born Sam Irons' photographs, on display at the Tim Sheward Projects gallery in London. The eclectic mix of photo subjects are mostly juxtaposed in pairs, ranging from a black silhouette and wooden planks to machinery and stalagmites. By eschewing any references to popular culture and opting to leave his works untitled, Irons offers viewers a glimpse into a world of contemplation free from external input – including his own.
Tim Sheward Projects, 52A Great Suffolk Street. Open Wednesday to Saturday, 10.00–18.00. Until 2 November.

M+A: These Days
Italian duo M+A are Michele Ducci and Alessandro Degli Angioli from the city of Forli. The duo’s second album, These Days, is that rare thing: a pop record that sounds like it’s trying to be nothing more than simply a pop record. No silly half-boiled concepts here, no “fascinating” backstory of personal struggles – just 11 refreshingly fun songs that occasionally conjure memories of other masters of the genre, such as Beck and Phoenix, which is no bad thing. The unashamedly poppy sound of M+A is surely meant for far bigger things in future, so enjoy them before their egos inevitably catch up and they end up being a bit rubbish.
These Days is available to buy now.
