01 Retail: London
-Cabinet pop-up shop
Offering a nice well-curated selection of menswear this August is Cabinet, a pop-up shop found within the equally fine Luna & Curious store on Calvert Avenue in East London. Inspired by recent unusual pop-ups in the same site from the likes of seafood vendor Rock Lobsta, Tim Yates’s Cabinet is selling Italian fitted shirts from Mastai Ferretti, casual trousers designed in collaboration with S.E.H Kelly and jackets from Montezemolo.
Cabinet is in Luna & Curious, 24-26 Calvert Avenue, London. Until 28 August

02 Film: USA
- Littlerock
Ott’s second feature is a slow (but not protracted!) fascinating character-driven tale of two Japanese tourists stranded in a small Californian town. With a selective use of subtitles and nuanced characters, Littlerock puts Middle America under the microscope – and it’s not always pretty. Engaging but also quite amusing at times, this low-budget indie debuted at the 2010 San Francisco International Film Festival and won this year’s Filmmaker magazine-sponsored Gotham Award.
Littlerock is now showing at selected cinemas in New York and Los Angeles
03 Music: Helsinki
-Flow Festival
This weekend, Helsinki gets ready to catch summer’s last sunny evenings with the eighth edition of the Flow Festival, the annual music and arts fest held in Suvilahti, a former energy production site. A line-up that includes the local Reino & The Rhinos, Katerina and Ionik plus rabid guitar solos from Battles and smooth lyrics by Mayer Hawthorne guarantee an eclectic selection for music-lovers.
Flow Festival, Suvilahti, Helsinki. 12 – 14 August
