1. Festival: Milan

-African, Asian and Latin Film Festival

More than 80 films from the southern hemisphere are being shown in Milan as part of the 21st African, Asian and Latin American film festival. This is the final weekend of the week-long programme that takes place in five cinemas around the city. If you have time for just one movie, do not to miss Sunday’s screening of Hawi (The Juggler), a film by Egyptian physicist-cum-director Ibrahim El Batout, showing at 21:00 in the Spazio Oberdan.

2. Restaurant: London

-The Modern Pantry at Meza

Ever since it opened in Clerkenwell in 2008, the Modern Pantry has become loved for chef Anna Hansen’s unique New Zealand cuisine with a Danish twist. The Modern Pantry is now taking over Meza on Soho’s Wardour Street for four weeks. Designed with furniture by Fritz Hansen, the pop-up will be open for just one month. Try the sugar-cured New Caledonian prawn omelette; Miso tamarind marinated steak; and Cinder toffee affogato.

3. Museum: Malaga

-Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

The Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum opens to the public this weekend in an impressively renovated 16th-century mansion, the Palacio de Villalón. The Andalucían arm of the world-famous Madrid museum will showcase 230 works from the Spanish baroness Carmen Thyssen’s collection, with a special focus on 19th-century Spanish and Andalucían art, including work from Joaquín Sorolla, Julio Romero de Torres, Carlos de Haes and Ignacio Zuloaga. The gallery is free for visitors this weekend.

4. Exhibition: London

-Aram Gallery: THEN-NOW

Design retailer and patron Zeev Aram is hosting an exhibition of 15 designers he first showed as graduates in the 1990s and who have all gone on to great things. The Then-Now Show, pairs one piece of work from their graduate show with a contemporary piece. Names include Konstantin Grcic, Thomas Heatherwick and Corin Mellor.

5. Festival: New Orleans

Tennessee Williams New Orleans Literary Festival

This five-day festival celebrates playwright Tennessee Williams’ works, offering a broad selection of discussions and theatre performances in the southern city that he is so synonymous with. A highlight is “Tom and Rose: My Sister was Quicker at Everything than I”, a one-man piece by Jeremy Lawrence based on Williams’ works and words, showing at 14.00 this Sunday at Le Petit Theatre.
