-Miro: The Ladder of Escape
If you can brave the crowds, this is the opening weekend of the Tate’s retrospective of Spanish surrealist Joan Miró. More than 150 works, including some little-seen sculptures, have been collected together for the show. With the Tate owning one of the world’s greatest collections of Surrealist art, this will be one of its most unforgettable – and no doubt profitable – summer blockbusters ever.

-Coachella
Kick off the summer festival season this weekend at California’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. With performers including Arcade Fire, Duran Duran, The Chemical Brothers, Interpol, The Strokes, PJ Harvey, Kanye West and Erykah Badu, this 12th edition of the festival reaffirms Coachella’s reputation as one of the most diverse shows in North America.

03 Festival: Havana
-XVI Habana Vieja: Ciundad en Movimiento theatre
Organised annually since 1996, the Ciudad en Movimiento theatre and dance festival will once again welcome national and international artistic troupes (from as far as South Korea and Norway) taking over Old Havana’s cobbled roads and performing in streets, squares and patios around the colonial town. Ballet Folklórico de Camagüey’s dance in the Plaza de Armas promises to be one of the best shows, on Sunday at 15.00. Make sure to enjoy it with a fresh mojito in hand.

- Record Store Day
Vinyl is back in fashion. Digital downloads haven’t managed to kill the analogue sound and to reinforce the point, Record Store Day is being celebrated all over the world on 16 April, with special offers and live shows. In London, check out the phenomenal Wild Beasts, a British indie-opera group who will be playing a set at Rough Trade East at 15.00.

05 Exhibition: Melbourne

The National Gallery of Victoria’s (NGV) broad survey of menswear from around 1740 to the present day incorporates clothes, accessories, paintings and multimedia, featuring threads from the likes of Rick Owens, Walter Van Beirendonck, Vivienne Westwood and Bernhard Willhelm. The exhibition is split between two sites: the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, focused on tailoring, and NGV International, with an exhibition on “the dandy”.
