Diann Bauer: The Enemy is Everything that Might Happen
This is the second show at Paradise Row for New York-born, London/Berlin-based artist Diann Bauer. The space on Newman Street has been transformed by a series of ka-pow large canvases and bespoke wall paintings, each owing as much to Soviet Agitprop as to contemporary advertising as to Op-Art of the 1960s.
Paradise Row, 74 Newman Street, London. Open daily 10:00–18:00 (until 20:00 Thursdays, open 11:00–18:00 Saturday, closed Sunday). Until June 18. [paradiserow.com] (http://paradiserow.com)

Hearbeats (Les Amours Imaginaires)
Heartbeats is Québécois prodigy Xavier Dolan’s second feature as writer, director and actor. Montréal hipsters Marie (Monia Chokri) and Francis (Dolan) are inseparable friends who share a taste for vintage outfits and aloof Adonises, but a mounting tension threatens to crack their friendship as they vie for the affections of a walking incarnation of Michelangelo’s David. A self-deprecating, elegant tale of unrequited love.
‘Heartbeats’ on general release in the UK.

Apocalypse Now
Coppola’s 1979 epic Vietnam War madness has been re-released, and it’s a not-to-be-missed chance to watch US Capt Willard (Martin Sheen) versus the crazed Col Kurtz (Marlon Brando) in the suffocating Cambodian jungle. Based on Joseph Conrad’s masterpiece The Heart of Darkness, the extensive restoration of Coppola’s four-year-long project has been supervised by the director himself. It’s cinematic perfection that today’s filmmakers can all learn from.
Apocalypse Now is screening at selected cinemas in the UK. A 3-disc Blu-ray edition will be released 13 June.
