The chequered history of Interpol’s first century

As global policing agency Interpol celebrates its 100th anniversary, there is a renewed focus on preventing the abuse of its red notices. Upon its inception in 1923, it had 20 member countries; this figure has since grown to 196. Alongside its notable achievements, including the capture of Radovan Karadzic and Charles Sobhraj, there have been dark chapters too, including a Nazi-led period during the Second World War.
