About the role
We are seeking a full-time assistant manager to join our team at The Monocle Shop in Wanchai, Hong Kong. The successful candidate will primarily work at our Wanchai location, with occasional duties at our Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) site.
The Monocle Shop stocks a mix of exclusive Monocle collaborations, current and back issues of the magazine, and a curated collection of products from our favourite companies and craftsmen across the globe.
The successful candidate will have a strong interest in world affairs, business and design, coupled with a passion for printed matter, and will serve as a key ambassador for our brand.
We are seeking a professional who can operate efficiently and productively in a dynamic retail environment, with a work ethic and passion that reflect our brand values and high standards.
In this leadership role, the assistant manager will support the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring that both staff and customers have a seamless and engaging experience.
Given the unique set-up, which combines retail, hospitality and media, the candidate will also serve as a host for visitors, facilitating their needs across the busy shop and café floor. As a leader, you will be expected to motivate the team, manage inventory and ensure the overall smooth operation of both locations.
A keen eye for detail, a creative mindset and a passion for delivering excellent service, along with flexibility to work weekends, are essential traits. Proficiency in oral and written English and Cantonese are required, and knowledge of Mandarin or an additional language would be an advantage.
