1. Exhibition: London

-Twombly and Poussin: Arcadian Painters

A key player in one of contemporary art’s most groundbreaking periods, the death of Cy Twombly last week marked the end of an era. It also coincides with the launch of Dulwich Picture Gallery’s exhibition Twombly and Poussin – putting two artists both living and working in Rome (be it three centuries apart) into dialogue. Look out for Tacita Dean’s 16mm film portrait of Twombly in his studio from earlier this year.

‘Twombly and Poussin: Arcadian Painters’, Dulwich Picture Gallery, London. Open Saturday & Sunday 11.00 to 17.00; Tuesday to Friday, 10.00 to 17.00; closed Monday. Until 25 September.

2. Musical Festival: South Daota

-Sioux Falls JazzFest

Summer in Sioux Falls is never a quiet time. This weekend South Dakota’s largest city will draw its brass and drums for JazzFest, one of the top jazz festivals in the Midwest. Including shows from The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the rough-bearded Anders Osborne (pictured), this year’s edition looks to repeat 2010’s feat of luring 75,000 revellers (Sioux Falls population is slightly above 150,000) offering three days of free outdoor concerts.

Sioux Falls JazzFest, Yankton Trail Park, South Dakota. Until 16 July.

3. Film festival: Israel

-Jerusalem Film festival

Saturday marks the final night of the 10-day Jerusalem Film Festival. Films not to miss include Between Two Worlds, a documentary exploring the conflicting issues surrounding American Judaism, and the Greek drama Attenberg.

Various venues, Jerusalem. Until 16 July.

4. Food: New York

-Food Truck Rally

Hungry New Yorkers on Sunday would do well to head to Prospect Park where the NYC Food Truck Association is holding a Food Truck Rally on Grand Army Plaza. Dutch, Greek, Mexican, Korean or plain old pizza (admittedly very good) are all on offer – whatever tickles your tastebuds. Premium food trucks have become a city institution and this is the perfect opportunity to try them all at once.

Food Truck Rally, Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park, New York. 17 July, 11.00 to 17.00.

5. Film: Global

-Bobby Fischer Against The World, directed by Liz Garbus

A superb documentary about the greatest and most notorious chess player of the 20th century and a riveting exploration of an icon of Cold War paranoia and dislocation. Great footage, intimate access and narrator-free style ensure a clean sweep of a dirty story. Bobby Fischer Against The World is in UK cinemas now and distributed by Dogwoof.
