This weekend’s highlights include the newest Oliver Spencer shop in London, a pop-up café in Tokyo and the latest album by French chanteuse Charlotte Gainsbourg.

1 DESIGN: SEOUL

—Seoul Design Festival

The Seoul Design Festival marks its 10th anniversary this weekend by going global – the venue welcomes Spain as a special guest country with Javier Mariscal, Vasava, and Bravos presenting work. Pieces from the DMY Berlin Festival are also on show. Asian design is represented by the Hankandasil: Tea House of Asian Design exhibition where Chinese, Japanese and Korean designers will be distilling the spirit of the region.

Hall B, COEX Convention and Exhibition Centre, Seoul. Open Saturday and Sunday 10.30-19.00

2 RETAIL: LONDON

—Oliver Spencer

Quintessential English style peppered with quirky flourishes has been the crux of Oliver Spencer’s success as the label continues to grow in stature and size. Last week saw the opening of the brand’s new stand-alone store on Soho’s Berwick Street. Staying true to the simplistic design of their original Lambs Conduit Street shop, the new branch has a 78 sq m interior that is reminiscent of traditional gentlemen’s outfitters.

Berwick Street, London. Open Monday to Saturday 11.00-19.00

3 FOOD: TOKYO

—Arts & Science X’Mas Coffee Shop

Tokyo-based brand Arts & Science is getting into the festive spirit by setting up a pop-up Christmas coffee shop. The place hosts 10 independent cafés, including Tokyo jam makers and bakers. Arts & Science’s commitment to well-sourced and beautifully crafted products means it is no surprise that the café offers its own-brand scones, cookies and other sweet treats to enjoy up until Christmas.

103B Palace Aoyama 6.1.6 Minami Aoyama Minato-ku, Tokyo. Open weekdays 15.00-20.00, weekends 12.00-20.00. Until 25 December

4 RETAIL: MANCHESTER

—The Lomography Gallery

Their motto, “the future is analogue,” says it all: there is no place for memory cards in the newly opened Lomography Gallery in Manchester. It offers all things LOMO, from the full range of the brand’s cameras to quality photo development. For the more hands-on photographers there will be workshops, organised by the Lomographic Society International.

20 Oldham Street, Manchester. Open Monday-Saturday 10.00-18.00, Sunday 12.00-18:00

5 MUSIC: GLOBAL

—Charlotte Gainsbourg: Stage Whisper

The daughter of France’s most debauched and scandalous pop mischief-maker has cultivated a far more carefully selective career. Gainsbourg’s two previous albums might seem a low level of output, but the new Stage Whisper, a selection of off-cuts from her IRM and 5.55 records plus live recordings, features collaborators such as Beck, Air and Jarvis Cocker all over it. Obviously, that’s who she was hanging with all this time.

Stage Whisper is released globally this week
