Could Russia’s lack of eggs hatch trouble for Vladimir Putin?

Vladimir Putin will hold his annual press conference today after forgoing it in 2022 because of his faltering war in Ukraine. This year it will take place in a “combined format” together with his call-in show, which supposedly allows citizens to ask their leader to solve their daily problems. Russians might now be used to the lack of Western goods caused by sanctions – but could inflation and a shortage of staples such as eggs in supermarkets spell trouble for Putin?
