Bangladesh’s Supreme Court has dismissed an earlier ruling that reinstated controversial quotas for government jobs, directing that 93 per cent of positions will now be open to candidates based entirely on merit. The initial ruling led to deadly protests, a curfew, military deployment and a nationwide internet blackout, though some restrictions have now been lifted.
