london-cafe vacancies

The Monocle Café is seeking a standards-driven, forward-thinking Café Manager to join our growing team as we expand The Monocle Café to new sites.

Initially providing maternity cover at our Chiltern St café, you will also be responsible for helping to build a team and develop the F&B proposition for a new, larger site in the West End, which you will then go on to open.

The role involves the day-to-day running of the café business, managing both the kitchen team and hosting front-of-house, as well as overseeing operations for the Kioskafé business in Paddington. You will be responsible for all aspects of managing the financial and operational elements of the business, including: customer-service standards, supplier relationships, events management, payroll and maintenance. We are well known for our excellent coffee and drinks, so proven barista skills in a busy environment are essential, as is the ability to train and develop a team. You will have at least three years’ experience of managing a small, cohesive team and delivering an exceptional and unique customer experience within an independent environment. You must be able to demonstrate an inherent understanding of the Monocle brand and possess a genuine passion for interests that share a synergy with Monocle, especially in relation to media, fashion, design, travel and culture.

The Monocle Café is open seven days a week and you will be expected to work weekends and evenings as part of your weekly schedule. We offer an excellent package and the opportunity for rapid career development alongside the prestige of working for a highly respected, international lifestyle and fashion brand. The Monocle Café is situated very close to our London bureau and you will have daily interactions with the wider Monocle team, who frequently entertain guests there. You must have excellent verbal and written English and basic computer skills. If you share our passions and believe that you could actively contribute to the ongoing development and expansion of The Monocle Café, please send us your CV and a cover letter.
